These top level race teams buy nothing but the best for their pit crew members.
Most suits we carry cost the teams $1000 to $1500 new. We sell them for a fraction
of that price. We offer suits from such prestigious names as Simpson, Impact, Sparco,
Puma, Alpine Star, Adidas, Oakley, OMD, and others on occasion. All of our multilayer
suits meet the SFI 3-2A/5 Safety rating.
Because most suits we handle are custom cut for the drivers and crew members, we
measure each and every suit with a tape measure. It is essential that you also measure
yourself with a tape measure. Do not make the mistake of going by your jeans sizes,
or from a friend's suit size, or from one of your old suits. This is a recipe for
a bad fit. The key thing here is to make sure the suit is comfortably oversized.
You don't want them too tight.
Chest:
Measure underneath the armpits, all the way
around your chest. Look for one of our suits that is about 5 to 10% larger than
your actual measurements.
Waist:
Measure your waist around the beltline, but
not over the belt or your pants. Look for one of our suits that is just slightly
larger than your measurement. We DO NOT recommend using the waist measurement from
your jeans, because they almost always run smaller than a tape measure measurement.
Inseam:
Measured from the crotch to the bottom inside
of the pant leg, about where it touches the ankle bone. Try and get as close to
possible to your actual measurement.
Other Ordering Tips:
- Don't get caught up trying to match the color of your race car. Remember, nobody can see you in the car anyway.
- Don't get caught up trying to match a car manufacturer, or sponsor. Doing this will cut your choices dramatically.
- Do look for a suit that will fit you comfortably, and be roomy enough. The more room you have, the better you'll race!
- All the suits that we sell are DRIVER SUITS. It's just that many are worn by pit crew members.
- SFI patches were not required in upper level NASCAR racing series until the last few years, so don't get too carried away by that. All of our suits meet appropriate FIA and SFI standards.
- Older suits without SFI tags can be recertified by the manufacturer, and given a tag. Simpson charges $25 for this. You will need to contact other manufacturers to see if they offer this service.
